SpaceFromSpace is a free archive of declassified satellite imagery. These terms cover how you can use the site and its content.
SpaceFromSpace is free to use. You don't need an account to browse the archive or use the interactive map. The site is intended for personal, educational, and research use.
Please don't use the site in a way that could harm it or interfere with other users - scraping the archive at scale, attempting to access admin areas, or using the site for anything illegal.
The declassified satellite images on this site originate from US government reconnaissance programs including CORONA, GAMBIT, and HEXAGON. The raw imagery is in the public domain as it was produced by the US government.
The georeferencing, processing, and presentation of these images - including the interactive maps and the archive itself - is the work of SpaceFromSpace and is protected by copyright.
You're welcome to share individual images with credit to SpaceFromSpace and a link back to the relevant page. Commercial use of processed imagery requires permission - get in touch at [email protected].
The archive is maintained by one person and while every effort is made to ensure accuracy, some footprint locations, dates, and metadata may be approximate or contain errors. The imagery is sourced from the USGS EarthExplorer archive.
SpaceFromSpace is provided as-is, without warranty. Don't rely on it for anything where errors could cause serious harm.
You can submit a request for specific imagery through the request page. Here's how it works:
Print purchases are handled through the SpaceFromSpace shop, powered by Fourthwall. Returns, refunds, and fulfilment are covered by their returns policy.
The site links to third-party services including USGS EarthExplorer, Soar Atlas, and Patreon. SpaceFromSpace is not responsible for the content or policies of those services.
SpaceFromSpace uses Google Analytics to understand how the site is used - pages visited, general location, and device type. No personally identifiable information is collected through the site itself. If you submit an image request, your contact details are used only to respond to that request.
These terms may be updated occasionally. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent version. Continued use of the site means you're happy with any changes.
If you have any questions about these terms, get in touch at [email protected].
